We’re huge fans of Dani’s work here at Teeling HQ and are delighted to welcome her back for a Teeling Times Takeover! Try her selection of Teeling Small Batch and Single Grain cocktails, perfect for a mid-spring evening!

To me, spring is a time for replacing heavy stirred drinks with refreshing cocktails. It’s a time to gather your friends in the backyard, (or in our case here in NYC) on the rooftop/fire escape/stoop/in the park, and toast the return of flowers and greenery. I truly enjoy a citrusy cocktail when the sun is out and we are having some mighty fine weather here in Brooklyn.

 

Silk Bonnet Cocktail

This play on a Brown Derby uses Teeling Small Batch Whiskey, Honey Syrup, and Red Grapefruit Juice.

  • 2 oz Teeling Small Batch Irish Whiskey
  • 1 oz red Grapefruit juice
  • 1/2 oz Honey Syrup (1:1 ratio)
  • Garnish: a big Grapefruit peel.

Combine ingredients over ice and shake it gurrrrrrrrrl. Double strain into your prettiest coupe and garnish with Grapefruit peel.

 

Revivalist Punch

This punch is a variation on a “Whiskey Punch” recipe from 1917. I swapped out the Sweet Vermouth for a dry Ruby Port and used Teeling Single Grain due to its berry notes.

  • 1 1/2 oz Teeling Single Grain Irish Whiskey
  • 1/2 oz Quinta Infantado Ruby Port (dry Ruby Port)
  • 1/2 oz Pineapple Gomme Syrup
  • 1/2 oz Lemon Juice
  • Garnish: Lemon peel Rose, Luxardo Maraschino Cherry

 

Combine ingredients over ice and shake hard. Strain into a fancy tumbler with ice and garnish.

 

The Captain’s Leave

Lastly, I’ve got an escapist Tiki cocktail which nods to two classic cocktails: Army & Navy and the Colonel cocktail. The Captain has left the ship, is headed to a deserted island, and is on leave. Don’t call, he won’t pick up the phone.

  • 1 3/4 oz Teeling Small Batch Irish Whiskey
  • 1/4 oz Rothman and Winter Apricot Liqueur
  • 1/2 oz Orgeat
  • 1/2 oz Lemon Juice
  • Garnish: Tiki Umbrella, Pineapple Chunk, Maraschino Cherry

Combine ingredients over ice and shakie-shake-shake. Strain into double rocks glass over crushed ice and garnish. Tiki time!
