Teeling Whiskey Releases New Brabazon Port Cask Bottling

Posted in Updates.

Teeling Whiskey, Ireland’s leading progressive Irish whiskey company, has today released the second in its latest series of limited edition Single Malts, entitled the Brabazon Bottling, Series 2. This new series continues upon Teeling Whiskey’s dedication to creating new and interesting expressions of Irish whiskey and in particular, expanding the underdeveloped Irish Single Malt category.

The Brabazon Bottling Single Malt Series focuses on creating a full flavoured taste experience that pays homage to the unique and distinct role that fortified wines can have on Irish whiskey. This second release focuses on the maturation effect of ex-Port casks on Irish Single Malt. By choosing a complementary range of vintages, sizes and styles of Port cask matured and finished Single Malt whiskey, the Brabazon Series No. 2 captures all the unique flavour and character Port casks can impart.  Like the Brabazon Bottling, Series 1, Series 2 is bottled at 49.5% with no chill filtration, allowing for the natural flavours of this whiskey to be retained. Series 2 is limited to 12,500 bottles and is presented in a clear white flint embossed and debossed Teeling Whiskey bottle showcasing the unique ruby red colour of the whiskey, rounding off a truly unique Irish whiskey to savour.

Since 1782 the Teeling family have been crafting Irish whiskey. However, 2015 marked the year a new generation of Teelings returned to their distilling roots in the Liberties area of Dublin City and specifically Newmarket.  There is another family synonymous with this area of the city – the Brabazons. From the 16th to 19th century the Brabazon family presided over this area of the Liberties and it was William Brabazon, the third Earl of Meath, who was granted the right to establish the great trading square at Newmarket. This was the original industrial suburb of Dublin, with an extensive tradition of brewing, distilling, tanning, weaving and trade in agricultural produce. The mercantile character of the area attracted generations of tradesmen including Walter Teeling who in 1782 set up the original Teeling Distillery in nearby Marrowbone Lane.

Jack Teeling, Founder and Managing Director of Teeling Whiskey, commented: Our aim with our Brabazon Bottling Series is to create full bodied tasting experiences for people who enjoy the added complexity and taste that fortified wine maturation imparts. At the same time, our new bottling continues our goal to expand the spectrum of flavours available from premium Irish whiskeys. The response to our first release exceeded our expectations so we are very excited to see the reaction to our Series 2 Port Cask Bottling.”

Teeling Whiskey’s Brabazon Bottling, Series 2 will be available in the Teeling Whiskey Distillery, Celtic Whiskey Shop, Dublin Airport and all good independent retailers within Ireland, retailing for €78 per 70cl. The Brabazon Bottling Series 2 will also be rolled out to the Benelux, France, Germany, Switzerland, Russia, Australia and select Asian markets in due course.
